The Parāśara Jyotiṣa course is to be taught in the tradition of Puri, India and includes spiritual instructions to develop the mind in order to grasp the entire subject. The student is to develop a keen understanding of Vedic astrology and will master all the śloka of Bṛhat Parāśara Horā Śāstra (BPHS).
Syllabus
The syllabus primarily includes the jyotiṣa classic Bṛhat Parāśara Horā Śāstra as available today. The various chapters are grouped into various “Topics” to be covered in two parts – (A) Jyotiṣa Paṇḍita ( Four Academic Years) and (B) Jyotiṣa Guru (Two Academic Years). Cartificate of completion is issued after successful completion of these programs.
Course Dates
The course for each academic year of the Parāśara Jyotiṣa Program (Jyotiṣa Paṇḍita) shall commence from Makara saṅkrānti (about 15 January) and is taught online. These online lessons can be accessed by PJC Members who will also have access to recordings and power-point presentations if they fail to attend the Contact Course.
Tirupati Class
The contact course shall be for 10 days (as required for each year, refer syllabus) in the Himalayas, India during September. Other mentors may choose other suitable locations and are required to announce this well in advance for the benefit of the students. Course Fees for any academic year does not include travel, stay or any other cost associated with the contact course.
The Tirupati Contact classes shall always commence from the “first Thursday of September and end in the second Sunday” covering a total period of 10 days of tuition. The dress code for men is white. Married women should wear some colour as white is for brahmachari and widows. The students have to be completely lacto-vegeterian during the tenure of the course. Consumption of alcohol, drugs or any substance abuse is strictly prohibited. Take this opportunity to bring about a life change for the better.
Attendance is optional and those who cannot travel can inform their course mentor. However, you have to come of one of the four contact courses from 2019-23 to become eligible for graduation.
Students are also required to be initiated into the Gayatri mantra. Arrangements will be made for this for those who do not have Gayatri diksa.
Program Director
All courses are designed and taught by Pt. Sanjay Rath who will be supported by assistant instructor(s) to help with assignments, calculations etc.
Course Mentors
Subsequent batches of PJC have a Mentor to guide the students. These mentors are alternately chosen form Asia and World (remaining other parts).

Admission
Admissions commence from 1 October, 2018 and you must contact the Course mentor for scholarships. Else, just pay the fees and join the course.
